Name of the Department: Veterinary Parasitology
Brief Information about the Department:
1. The department is carrying mainly three activities i.e. teaching, research and extension.
2. Teaching of the BVSc & AH students is carried as per VCI syllabus and MVSc as per ICAR.
3. The department is routinely examining biological samples such as blood sample for haemoprotozoa and faecal sample for gastrointestinal parasites.
4. Research in the department mainly focussed on the epidemiology and their genetic characterization of vector borne haemoparasites of livestock and companion animals. In addition, the phenotypic as well of phylogenetic inference study of the vector and the endosymbiont that is carried inside the vector is one of the area of research.
5. Further, the interested area of research is to developed diagnostic technology in other apicomplexan parasites and to development of control measures.
6. The department also actively conducting extension activities in terms of giving awareness to the general public regarding parasitic zoonoses and their possibility of control measures.

1. Facilities for routine parasitological examinations such as centrifuge machine and microscope.
2. Molecular study of the parasites such as table top cooling centrifuge machine, laminar hood, thermal cycler, electrophoresis unit, gel documentation system.
