BRIEF PROFILE OF THE COLLEGE 

The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (CVSc & AH), one of the constituent Colleges of the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, was established through the promulgation of an Ordinance (No.M-2 of 1995; dated 20th February 1995) and became functional with the admission of first batch of students to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree programme in the year 1997.

The College is located at Selesih, North of Aizawl 12 kilometers away from Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram on the Aizawl-Sihphir-Silchar state highway. The Campus of the College is spread over 168.61 acres of land, mostly hilly terrain at an altitude of 965 meters above the mean sea level. The climate of Aizawl is very pleasant, generally cool in summer and not very cold in winter. The minimum and maximum temperature ranges from 7-80C to 30-340C. It rains heavily from May to September and the average annual rainfall is about 2500 mm. The jurisdiction of the College extends to different North Eastern States comprising of the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim.


Mandate

The mandates of the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry are:

1. To impart education in different branches of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry

2. To further the advancement of learning and prosecution of research on Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry

3. To undertake programmes of extension education in the states under jurisdiction, and

4. To undertake such other activities in the fields of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry as it may deem fit from time to time.


Mission 

Keeping the mandates in view, the mission of the University is to be a Centre of Excellence in teaching, research and extension education in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

The College has 17(seventeen) teaching Departments including Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC) and Livestock Farm (LFC) as per the Minimum Standard for Veterinary Education regulations-2016 prescribed by  the Veterinary Council of India (VCI). The 17 teaching Departments are:
