ADMISSION


Admission Procedures

B.V.Sc.&A.H. Degree Programme
The present intake capacity of B.V.Sc.&A.H. degree programme is 85 students for
each academic year. The University allocates the seats and seeks nominations from the
respective seven North Eastern Hill States i.e. Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya,
Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. The concerned Departments of the respective State
Government nominate the students on the basis of competitive entrance examinations for the
said admission. Fifteen percent of total seats are reserved for the candidates nominated by the
Veterinary Council of India (VCI), New Delhi through UG NEET examination for admission
to B.V.Sc.&A.H. Degree programme. The reservation of various Degree programmes has
been adopted by the University as per the directives received from the Ministry of Human
Resource Development, Govt. of India. Self-Financed category seats are also available for
admission to BVSC&AH degree programme. The candidates desirous of seeking admission
in B.V.Sc.&AH under Self-Financed Category shall be selected based on merit of marks
obtained in UG NEET conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) fulfilling the eligibility
criteria of the University. These Self-Financed Category seats will be open to candidates from
all over India.


M.V.Sc. Degree programme

The candidates for admission to Master’s programme must have Bachelor’s Degree in
Veterinary Science in the concerned discipline from a recognized University with OGPA of
6.60 out of 10.00 for general, OBC and UPS categories. SC/ST candidates with OGPA of
5.60 in the Bachelor’s degree shall be eligible for admission. Admission for M.V.Sc.
programme is done on the basis of all India Competitive Examination conducted by Central
Agricultural University, Imphal, Manipur. Candidates are selected based on the performance
in the Common Entrance examination. All the candidates including sponsored (in-service) for
seeking admission to M.V.Sc. programme must have to appear in the written Examination.
Admission notice is generally published in news paper and university website
(www.cau.ac.in). Twenty five percent of seat of M.V.Sc. programmes in most of the
departments are reserved for Candidates qualified in ICAR PG entrance test and subsequently
nominated through counselling. For more information related to ICAR PG entrance

Ph.D. Degree Programme

The candidates for admission to Ph.D. programme must have Master’s Degree in
Veterinary & Animal Science in the concerned discipline from a recognized University with
OGPA of 6.50 out of 10.00 or equivalent percentage of marks. SC/ST candidates with OGPA
of 5.50 in the Master’s degree shall be eligible for admission. Admission for Ph.D.
programme is done on the basis of all India Competitive Examination conducted by Central
Agricultural University, Imphal, Manipur. All the candidates including sponsored (in-service)
for seeking admission to PhD programme must have to appear in the written Examination.

(www.cau.ac.in). Few seats of Ph.D. programmes in selected departments are reserved for
candidates qualified in ICAR Ph.D entrance test and subsequently nominated through ICAR

Paravet Certificate Course

The minimum educational qualification for enrolment in the one-year Paravet
Certificate Course is a successful completion of Class 12 in any division within the science
stream. Applicants should have studied the following subjects: English,
Mathematics/Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Details about course module, course fee

System of Education


The university follows semester system of education with 10 point scale of grading. It
has internal-cum-external system of examination and evaluation. The university has adopted
model academic regulations and syllabi as proposed by the Indian council of Agricultural
Research (ICAR), 2021 for MVSc & PhD programmes and Veterinary Council of India
(VCI), Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (MSVE) Regulations, 2016, for B.V.Sc.
& A.H. Degree programme..
