Name of the Department: Veterinary Microbiology
Brief Information about the Department: Department of Veterinary Microbiology established during 1999 and is involved with teaching, research and extension activities in animal husbandry sector. Department involved in BVSc&AH, MVSc and PhD teaching and research activities. Faculty and students in this department is undertaking research on bacterial and viral pathogen characterization, screening of anti-microbial resistance associated with bacteria isolated from animal, human and environment. Research conducted on molecular epidemiology, vaccine efficacy studies as well as research on in-ovo approach for immunization and epigenetic study in birds were conducted. Laboratory facilities were created for microbiological studies on bacteriology, virology and immunology in the department.

Facilities Available:
Department has been equipped with basic and advance research on microbiology and molecular biology work.
1. Biosafety level-II laboratory.
2. Three cell culture laboratory with CO2 incubator and inverted trinocular research microscope with photo micrographic attachment and fluorescent microscopy.
3. Two bacteriology laboratory equipped with three bacteriological incubator, 2 BOD incubator, Shaking incubator.
4. Molecular biology laboratory, equipped with 4 PCR thermocycler, one Realtime PCR, gel electrophoresis, electroporator, semi dry blotter, ultra sonicator, Horizontal & Vertical Gel electrophoresis(PAGE)
5. Microplate reader with nano drop detector, 8 Vertical laminar flow with biosafety cabine(Class II B2), one class 3 cabinet.
6. Four Clinical research microscope (trinocular) and one trinocular research microscope with fluorescent adapter., -80°C deepfreezer(3 nos.),one -40°C and three -20°C freezer
